Stress is not only experienced by adults. In fact young children, teens and young adults also experience stress. In every age group there is a certain level of stress that one has to undergo. Depending on the stress coping skills of an individual this stress can either serve as a driving force or it can also cause failure. Each individual surely has his or her own unique way to cope with stress. Even young children like toddlers have their own way to cope with stress. The most common cause of stress in children, teens and young adults is school. Yes, several school related events and topics can cause a certain degree of stress to these individuals. Elementary, high school and even college can cause stress. In fact stress in college students is very common.

Stress in college is common. In fact most youngsters experience a lot of stress when they are in college as compared when they were in elementary or highschool. This is indeed true simply because college is an initiation to the adult life. When you get into college you learn to make decisions on your own, make choices and do things on your own. Stress in college is nothing new. Stress in this level will help mold an individual and make him or her ready as he enters the adult world. There are several causes of stress in college. One cause is picking a major. Some students find this stressful simply because they are torn between choosing the major they like or following their parents will.

There still other causes of stress in college. One common cause is exams. Of course who doesn’t fear exams especially if you partied all night and failed to study for an exam the next day. Another is term paper and thesis deadlines. Everyone in college hates deadlines because this only means one thing more sleepless nights and less partying. Relationships can also cause stress in college especially in a university where people meet new faces all the time and new relationships can prosper. The time spent on schoolworks can also put a strain on a relationship. There are a lot of things that happen in college that can cause stress and one of these can also be the very reason why some people fail to graduate from college.

Stress in college is fairly common and the best way to combat that is having adequate stress coping skills. In addition to that a good support team can also help a person in college cope with stress.  A support team does not only includes friends but it also includes the parents. This support system will provide encouragement as well as a certain degree of help.
